Comprehensive reforms and practices in biotechnology specialty

Abstract: Biotechnology specialty has a wide scope and large scale in colleges and universities nationwide. However, there is prominent contradiction between the quality of talent training and the social demands. In this case, how to improve the quality of talent training and better meet the needs of society has become an urgent problem to be solved in the higher education of biotechnology. In the past 20 years, the development of biotechnology specialty in our university experienced continuous exploration and innovation. Combining with the teaching quality of the national standard of biotechnology undergraduate and specialty-running practice, biotechnology specialty gradually formed the talent-cultivation system characteristics of regional agricultural biotechnology. The talent-cultivation system highlighted in a new implementation in talents training mode as "large class enrollment, modular training", optimizing the personnel training programs, strengthening the teaching comprehensive reform in teaching,and actively promoting the innovation and entrepreneurship education. The reforms and practices in biotechnology specialty are propitious to meet the personalized and innovative talents cultivation, and better adapt to the social demands for biotechnological talents.
