Abstract: The gene engineering has revolutionized the life sciences. It gradually becomes the core technology of modern bio-industries and is widely used in industrial, agricultural, and medical areas. As an important basic course of students studying life science, “Gene Engineering” possesses the characteristics of strong specialty, abstract content, and rapid technological development, and so on. By employing several strategies, including selecting and arranging teaching contents reasonably, deepening the connection between theory and application by combining the multimedia with “online” materials, enhancing students′ interest in learning based on “the history of gene engineering”, expanding frontier knowledge to enhancing students′ interaction and initiative, the application of diversified teaching mode in genetic engineering teaching was explored, practiced, and summarized. Results showed that the diversified teaching mode can effectively stimulate students′ interest in studying the principles and applications of genetic engineering.
