Research progress of resveratrol in mitochondrial quality control

Abstract: Resveratrol (Res) is a natural plant polyphenol with anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, reducing platelet aggregation, and improving cardiovascular diseases. Mitochondria, as the body′s main energy-supplying organelle, plays an important role in maintaining the normal operation of the body. More and more studies have found that Res can effectively control mitochondrial quality to prevent and cure metabolic and neurological system diseases, while the dosage of Res varies in different models, intervention approaches and time. Therefore, the mitochondrial biogenesis, fusion and division, mitochondrial autophagy in recent years and the dosage of mitochondria are reviewed to provide a theoretical reference for the better use of Res in regulating diseases related to the improvement mitochondrial quality control.
