Abstract: Arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) are complex proteoglycans found in the entire plant kingdom, implicating that biological functions of which are involved in various aspects of cell proliferation, cell division, abiotic stress, sexual reproductive development and embryogenesis. In this review, we summarized their specific features of AGPs, and then focused on current knowledge of their functional properties, interactions between plant and environment in root tissues.
