Abstract: tA strain of Cd-resisting fungus, named M2, was isolated from soil samples near the coal yield by acclimation based on the concentration gradient approach. M2 was identified as Cochliobolus lunatus(telemorph), namely Curvularia lunata(anamorph), by traditional morphological method and phyogenetic analysis based on 18S rDNA sequence. This strain was able to grow well on plate containing 4000 mg/L Cd2+. We also studied the resistance of M2 to heavy metal Pb, Cr, Cu, Zn, Co and Ni. The resistance decreased in the order of Cd2+ (4000 mg/L)> Pb2+ (1500 mg/L)> Zn2+ (600 mg/L)> Cu2+ (400 mg/L)> Ni2+ (100 mg/L)> Co2+ (80 mg/L)> Cr2+ (60 mg/L).
