Abstract:

A study was carried out to test the effects of acute di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) exposure on gene expression involved in inflammation response of yellow catfish. Fish (1.80 ± 0.20)g was randomly allocate triplicated to 3 groups for 96 h DEHP exposure. In medium and high DEHP concentration groups, the mRNA expression of TNF and IL 8 increased significantly at 24 h, then decreased. However, the mRNA expression of IFN decreased significantly in high concentration group. Fish in high concentration DEHP group had greater TNF mRNA expression than other groups at 12 h, but the highest mRNA expression of IL 8 and IFN was found in medium concentration group. Fish in medium concentration group had higher mRNA expression of TNF, IFN and IL 8 than fish in high concentration group at 24, 48 and 96 h. The results showed the gene expression involved in inflammatory response was dosage-depended with DEHP exposure, and low DEHP exposure up-regulated the gene expression involved in inflammatory response, but high DEHP exposure inhibited the gene expression.
