Abstract: Cold induced RNA binding protein (Cirbp) is an evolutionary conservative RNA binding protein, including a RNA domain (RRM) and a arginine - glycine (RGG) domain. The expression of Cirbp changes in temperature, hypoxia, radiation, drugs, growth factors and so on, so as to regulate transcriptional, post transcriptional, and translation. This article reviews the evolutionary conservatism and intermolecular interaction, cell function and role in different physiological and pathological processes, including circadian rhythm, inflammation, nerve plasticity, stem cell characteristics and cancer.

Key words: cold induced RNA binding protein, mild hypothermia, molecular regulation, biological function
