Abstract:

HRP/acetylacetone (ACAC)/H2O2 system was used to initiate reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) graft polymerization on the surface of filter paper for grafting polymerization of methyl acrylate. The RAFT chain transfer agent, 2-(dodecyltrithiocarbonate)-2-methylpropionic acid (DDMAT), was grafted onto the surface of the filter paper by esterification reaction to prepare DDMAT-filter paper. Methyl acrylate was graft polymerized on the surface of DDMAT-filter paper via HRP/ACAC/H2O2 ternary system. The results of ATR-FTIR indicated that DDMAT and methyl acrylate were successfully grafted on the structure filter paper. XPS results showed that the content of S element and the content of carbon-oxygen double bond on the modified filter paper increased, which further proved that the surface of the modified filter paper contained DDMAT and methyl acrylate. The wettability test results showed that the filter paper had a certain hydrophobicity after grafting the RAFT agent, and the hydrophobicity was improved after graft polymerization of methyl acrylate.
