Abstract: Soil salinization is a serious threat to the growth and development of plants. Screening salt tolerant plant varieties is very necessary. It is based on proper evaluation of their salt tolerance. We reviewed the research on salt tolerance evaluation of plants from four aspects: selection of plant salt tolerance evaluation period, suitable cultivation method for salt tolerance evaluation, selection of salt tolerance evaluation index and comprehensive evaluation method of salt tolerance. In addition, the systematic salt tolerance evaluation strategy was put forward to provide reference for the salt tolerance evaluation in the future.
