长白山漫江中华秋沙鸭子代性比研究

Study on the offspring sex ratio of Mergus squamatus in Manjiang River, Changbai Mountain, China

摘要: 为评估长白山漫江中华秋沙鸭(Mergus squamatus)的子代性比,了解该物种的繁殖策略、种群动态和个体适合度,于2021—2024年间,通过非损伤取样法在长白山漫江区域采集13巢共计131份中华秋沙鸭卵壳样本。利用分子生物学方法进行子代性别鉴定,并运用二项分布、Wilcoxon-Signed-Ranks检验和Kruskal-Wallis检验对子代性比以及窝卵数对子代性比的影响进行统计学分析。结果显示,无论在种群水平还是巢水平,该物种的初级性比和次级性比均未显著偏离0.5(P>0.05),且窝卵数对子代性比无显著效应(P>0.05)。结果表明,在长白山漫江地区,中华秋沙鸭亲本对雌雄子代的投资可能是均衡的,这与性比均衡假说的预测相吻合,并且亲鸟可能不通过控制窝卵数来调控子代性比。研究为该领域后续深入探索提供数据基础,以期对中华秋沙鸭的保护工作提供帮助。

Abstract: To evaluate the offspring sex ratio ofMergus squamatusin Manjiang River, Changbai Mountain, and to understand their breeding strategy, population dynamics, and individual fitness, a total of 131 eggshell samples were collected from 13M. squamatusnests along the river from 2021 to 2024 using a non-invasive sampling method. Molecular biology techniques were employed for the sex determination of the offspring. Statistical analyses, including binomial distribution, Wilcoxon-Signed-Ranks test, and Kruskal-Wallis test, were conducted to investigate offspring sex ratio and the influence of clutch size on it. The results showed that the primary and secondary sex ratios for this species did not significantly differ from 0.5 (P>0.05), whether at the population level or the nest level. This suggested that parental investment in male and female offspring ofM. squamatusmight be balanced along the Manjiang River in Changbai Mountain, which was consistent with Fisher’s theory predictions. Furthermore, the study revealed that clutch size did not exert a significant influence on the offspring sex ratio (P>0.05), suggesting that parental modulation of offspring sex ratios through clutch size control might not be a prominent mechanism in this species. This study provided a database for future in-depth research in this area, aiming to support conservation efforts forM. squamatus.
