山西省不同地区长尾仓鼠头骨几何形态特征差异分析

Analysis of geometric morphometric variation in the skull of Cricetulus longicaudatus across Shanxi Province

摘要: 为揭示山西省不同地区长尾仓鼠(Cricetulus longicaudatus)头骨几何形态学是否存在地理差异,本研究采集了山西省11个不同地区的长尾仓鼠,采用数字化打点技术,消除非形态变异后,通过主成分分析、薄板样条分析和多维尺度分析等统计方法对打点数据进行综合处理分析,系统地探讨了不同地区长尾仓鼠头骨几何形态的差异及其与环境因子的关系。结果显示:尽管各个视角的主成分分析未能形成明显的地理聚类,但薄板样条分析揭示出头骨特定区域(如听泡、颧骨及齿列等)的形态变异有集中现象;多维尺度分析结合各个视角数据结果进一步表明,头骨形态的差异与经度、海拔和年平均降水量之间存在显著正相关关系。综上,本研究揭示了山西省不同地区长尾仓鼠头骨存在差异来适应不同地理环境,为理解啮齿动物的生态适应和进化动态提供了科学依据。

Abstract: To investigate geographical variation in skull morphology of the long-tailed dwarf hamster (Cricetulus longicaudatus) across Shanxi Province, specimens from 11 regions were analyzed using landmark-based geometric morphometrics. After digitization and removal of non-shape variation, principal component analysis (PCA), thin-plate spline (TPS) analysis, and multidimensional scaling (MDS) were applied. While PCA did not show clear geographical clustering, thin-plate spline analysis revealed localized shape changes in structures such as the auditory bulla, zygomatic arch, and maxillary tooth row. MDS further indicated that skull shape variation was significantly associated with longitude, altitude, and annual precipitation. These results suggested adaptive divergence in skull morphology among populations in response to environmental gradients, providing insights into ecological adaptation and evolutionary dynamics in rodents.
